Overview
Casa Mareva is a twelve-room hotel among the dunes of Comporta. Most guests found it through booking platforms that took a large commission on every stay, so the owners wanted a website beautiful and fast enough to make booking direct the obvious choice.
The challenge
The site had to show off large, atmospheric photography without feeling slow on a patchy beach connection, work in three languages and connect to the hotel's existing booking engine without sending guests to a clunky third-party page.
The approach
I built a statically generated site with responsive, modern image formats and lazy loading tuned room by room. Availability and prices come from the booking engine's API and are cached at the edge, and the whole checkout lives on the hotel's own domain. The team manages rooms, offers and translations from a headless CMS.
Outcome
The result
The new site launched in June 2025. Direct bookings now make up most of the hotel's reservations, and pages load in under two seconds on a mobile connection.

Guests tell us the website feels as calm as the hotel itself. Within one summer, booking with us directly became the norm.
